Brent Chinese Association in collaboration with The Frank Soo Foundation, Silver Jubilee Park and Hendon FC are proud to announce Brent ESEA Community Youth Football; a FREE 6 weekly football training sessions for children (boys and girls) from the ages of 4-8yo. Aimed for but not exclusively to the East & South East Asian (ESEA) Communities. The project will be launched at a special event on Sunday 7th April at 2pm at Silver Jubilee Park Stadium and the sessions will start on Friday 19th April and be from 4-5pm every week. Participants are encouraged to attend the whole 6 weeks. The sessions will be led by FA qualified coaches and be fully DBS checked in a safe environment. We are also looking for volunteers to support the project and also will be providing training and guidance from qualified FA staff.

Brent Chinese Association celebrated Chinese Lunar New Year 2024, Year of the Wood Dragon, with 60 guests from our Chinese, ESEA and diverse communities at East Restaurant in Alperton on 17th February.
Celebrating ESEA Heritage Month and Mid-Autumn/Mooncake Festival with Brent Chinese Association
Centre151, Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia supporting the community, invited Brent Chinese Association, to their Ngay Hoi Ve Suc Khoe Open Day, a festival of food, workshops, performances, arts & crafts, massages and other activities. Dr Kong attended the event.
Dr Kong reported “It is great to see ESEA communities celebrating September, the ESEA Heritage month. I met new friends. The cultural dance performances and the band were great! It was very nostalgic for me, listening to the band playing a medley of songs from my parents’ days and seeing the attenders spontaneously dancing to the tunes. Thank you, Centre151, for inviting us”.
The headquarters of Brent Council, Brent Civic Centre opened in 2013. It has won awards for its green features. Brent is one of 32 greater London Boroughs.
Mei Sim Lai OBE DL , Chair of BMS has been HM the Queen's (since last year HM King Chares III's ) Representative in Brent since 2007 and acts as the Monarch's " eyes and ears " in the Borough and is involved with all Royal Visits, the Mayor's Civic Functions , visiting business, charities, schools and religious organisations and generally helping to build bridges across community groups as well as presenting awards on behalf of the Monarch.

Dr Kong, Chair of Brent Chinese Association, was attended a celebratory event at the Learning Zone, Wembley National Stadium Trust, hosted by CVS Brent, on the good work of the Community Research Champions. At the event, participants shared learning and their insights, inspirations and commitment to improve the health outcomes for our residents from our underserved communities.

Our Chair, Dr. Kong, a GP, was invited to speak on Women’s Health by CVS Brent, which supports the Voluntary Sector in the Borough of Brent.
Dr Kong was so pleased at the event to see Ms Sarjit Ganger, CEO of Asian Women Resource Centre, whom she has known for many years. Sarjit has done so much to help Asian women over the years. Thank you, Sarjit.

As the uptake of Covid caccination is still relatively low in Chinese communities, Brent Chinese Association with London Chinese Community Centre and NHS are pleased to announce there will be a free Covid-19 vaccination pop-up clinic on Sunday 6th March 2022 from 11am to 3pm at The London Chinese Community Centre, 2 Leicester Court, London WC2H 7DW. We will be offering first, second and booster vaccines as well as flu caccines to anyone from 12 years old! Please come along it will be a great day!

North West London has just hit the milestone of giving its 1 millionth booster vaccine!
This outstanding achievement is down to the extraordinary efforts of the hundreds of volunteers, vaccinators, medical professionals and operational teams that have worked tirelessly since the vaccination programme began, over a year ago.

The Chinese Lunar New Year 2022 starts on February 1. The 2022 year of the Water Tiger promises a year of positive changes.
We will make contact early next year for a get together to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year. We optimistically hope by then, the impact of omicron in the early part of 2022 would be much reduced and controlled.

We are offering free advisory and health check clinic to the Chinese communities on Sunday 10th October at the backyard of the Hyde United Reformed Church.
We are celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and our delayed launch of the Association ( due to Covid-19 lockdown) on 19th September 2021.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Chinese Moon Festival, traditionally brings families and friends together to celebrate nature’s harvest abundance under a full moon which symbolises unity, hope and love.
It takes place every year with the full moon that falls on the 15th day of the 8th month on the lunar calendar.
Brent Chinese Association are working closely with the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA), Westminster Council and NHS Central London CCG to provide a pop-up Covid vaccination clinic. We are currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to anyone ages 16 or over, newly arrived international students are welcome. Pfizer and AstraZeneca are available for 1st and 2nd dose.

The London Faith & Belief Community Awards celebrate the vital work of London’s faith and belief communities by bringing together local heroes and shining a light on their inspirational work, demonstrating how Londoners from all faiths and beliefs can work together for a fairer and more inclusive city.
There was an overwhelming amount of nominations from across London. Judges, made up of F&BF staff members and members of HM Lord Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith, met in September to review the nominations and selected 35 projects they deemed exceptional and should be awarded at this year’s Faith & Belief Community Awards.
We have been invited to attend an in-person awards ceremony on 29th November 2020. We will receive a Certificate of Recognition from F&BF and Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith. Last but not least we will have our work showcased in awards brochure and during the awards ceremony.
The Chinese, East Asian and South East Asian communities in Brent and neighbouring boroughs have suffered tremendously during COVID-19 as they work in trade, catering and hospitality documented and undocumented. Due to the increasing hate crimes against these communities, they are getting increasingly isolated, vulnerable and many undocumented with no registered GP or NHS numbers or having no access to mainstream health and care services, hence cannot access Covid vaccinations.
Brent Chinese Association has been in discussion with established Chinese associations and groups and we are working together on pop up Covid-19 vaccination clinics for these communities. Please see details in the poster on the left hand side.

Counselling service for hate crime victims
Chinese Welfare Trust has announced free counselling sessions will be available to Chinese, East and Southeast Asian victims who are residents in the Greater London area. Our residents in Brent can access this service by by calling 07464890902 and leave a message. A counsellor will return your call to make a booking.
